Kissamos
Kissamos (or Kastelli) is a small coastal town 36 km west of Chania (about 5,000 inhabitants). Unlike other places on the north coast of Crete, Kissamos has retained its original character and lost none of its natural beauty. In recent years, a rather gentle tourist opening and development has taken place, so that today’s holidaymakers in Kissamos find all the amenities for a relaxing holiday, while at the same time having the feeling of spending their holiday among the locals.
From the port of Kissamos there is a boat connection to Kythira and the Peloponnese and twice a week also a ferry to Piraeus. Several times a day in summer, excursion boats travel to the island of Gramvousa and the lagoon of Balos.
Kissamos itself has a beautiful beach promenade. At the same time, the dream beaches of Balos, Falsarna and Elafonissi are easy to reach.
